Certified asbestos removal contractor for Kortrijk and South-West Flanders. We safely remove asbestos, from pipe insulation to asbestos roofs.

In Kortrijk, many homes date from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. These often still have asbestos in places you wouldn't immediately think of. Around the central heating pipes in the cellar, there is sometimes a crumbly, white layer that looks suspiciously like plaster. In the utility room or hallway, there may still be a vinyl floor covering from the 1970s, with a black adhesive layer underneath. And above the rear extension or garage, asbestos cement corrugated sheets are still regularly found. It is not always easy to recognise this yourself. That is why we start with a thorough on-site inspection.
Are you curious whether there is asbestos in your home? Then first contact an asbestos expert for an asbestos certificate. Since 2022, this certificate has been mandatory when selling a home built before 2001. A certified asbestos removal company such as Credim is not allowed to issue this certificate. But once the certificate is in place and indicates asbestos, we spring into action.
In practice, we see three main categories. The first is asbestos around pipes. This white, crumbly insulation around old heating pipes is often found in cellars of houses built up to the 1980s. Sometimes there is still a white hessian cloth around it. As long as you don't touch it, it remains intact. But during a renovation or a leak, dust can be released. So you need to be very careful with it.
The second large group is asbestos-containing vinyl flooring. These old sheets and tiles often have an asbestos-containing backing layer. And then there is that black bituminous adhesive, the so-called cutback adhesive, which was very common between 1955 and 1985. This adhesive is brittle and can release fibres. Especially when pulling up such a floor, dust is released. That is why this job belongs with a certified company.
Finally, there are asbestos roofs and wall panels. We see these a lot on sheds, barns and canopies. Here too, it is important that the material is not damaged during removal. We work according to the legal techniques, depending on the material and its condition. Sometimes a simple action suffices, but with damaged or friable asbestos, we set up a sealed zone with negative pressure.

At home, you may only remove firmly bonded, undamaged asbestos yourself that is screwed down and not larger than 35 square metres. And that is only allowed after a demolition notification via the Environmental Counter (Omgevingsloket). As soon as the asbestos is damaged, glued or friable, a certified company must come and do it. These rules exist for a reason. Sawing off or sanding a piece yourself can release fibres that you don't want to inhale. We have the right materials and knowledge to limit that risk.
As a certified asbestos removal company, we know the three legal techniques inside out. We work with the correct personal protective equipment. The asbestos is carefully packaged in airtight foil of at least 100 microns and transported to a certified processing facility. We handle that completely.
We come from Stabroek to Kortrijk, but that is no problem for us. We work throughout Flanders. During an initial site visit, we look at the situation together with you. We examine what exactly is present and in what condition it is. Then we make a clear plan and a fair quote.
On site, we work neatly and quickly. We cordon off the work area, use the correct technique and clean everything up thoroughly.
