As a certified asbestos removal contractor, we safely remove asbestos from homes in Antwerp, from pipe insulation to asbestos roofs.

In Antwerp, quite a few houses were built before 2001. Anyone buying such a home or renovating it will sooner or later come across asbestos. It is often found in places you wouldn't immediately think of: around old central heating pipes in the cellar, under a vinyl floor covering in the utility room, or as corrugated sheets on a canopy. If you don't recognise it, it can remain unnoticed for years. As long as the material stays intact and you don't disturb it, the risk is limited. But during a renovation, a leak, or simply due to age, dust is released. Then you want it removed professionally.
Credim operates from Stabroek and covers the whole of Antwerp and the province. We are a licensed asbestos removal contractor, which means we know how to remove asbestos safely and legally. It's not just a matter of being careful. There are strict rules, and we follow them to the letter.
Every home is different, but in practice we see the same three situations time and again.
Houses from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s often have asbestos insulation around the central heating. This white, crumbly layer is usually wrapped in hessian and is found in the cellar or under the stairs. It's not always easy to recognise, and you can't be 100% sure by sight alone. A sample taken by an asbestos expert will give you a definitive answer. If it is asbestos, we'll remove it safely. You can read more about this specific job on our page about removing asbestos pipe insulation.
Old vinyl floor coverings or tiles can have an asbestos-containing backing. The real risk often lies in the black bituminous adhesive underneath, known as cutback adhesive. This brittle layer was widely used between 1955 and 1985. It's tempting to tear up an old floor yourself, but this kind of work quickly releases dust. That's why it's better to call in a professional. Want to know how we tackle it? Then take a look at our page on removing asbestos vinyl flooring.
Outside, we often see asbestos corrugated sheets on garages, sheds and canopies. These sheets are fairly sturdy, but they become brittle over time. Cladding and roof tiles can also contain asbestos. Removing an asbestos roof involves a lot: the sheets must remain intact, be properly packaged and disposed of in accordance with the regulations. You'll find more information on our page about removing an asbestos roof.

As a licensed asbestos removal contractor, we master the three legally recognised techniques: the simple procedure, the glove bag and the hermetic zone. Which technique we use depends on the type of asbestos and its condition. For bonded material that is still in good condition, a simple procedure is sometimes sufficient. We remove pipe insulation in a hermetic zone. Damaged or friable asbestos is removed in a hermetic zone under negative pressure.
We work tidily and quickly, and we clear everything up. The asbestos is packed airtight in foil of at least 100 microns and taken to a licensed processing facility. We handle the transport and the paperwork.
If you sell a home built before 2001, you have needed an asbestos certificate since 23 November 2022. This certificate is drawn up by a certified asbestos expert and issued by OVAM. Credim does not issue certificates itself, but we do remove the asbestos indicated on that certificate. By 2032, every owner of a pre-2001 building must have a certificate. If you're planning a renovation, it's wise to have an inventory drawn up first, so you know where you stand.
