As a certified asbestos removal company, we safely remove asbestos from homes in Dendermonde and the surrounding area.

In Dendermonde there are still many houses from before 2001. During renovations in those homes, you regularly come across asbestos, often in places where you least expect it. Think of the cellar of a terraced house from the 1970s, where the central heating pipes are wrapped in a white, crumbly layer. Or the vinyl flooring in the utility room, which still looks fine but has an asbestos-containing backing. And of course the corrugated sheets of the canopy or garage.
As long as that material remains intact and you don't touch it, there is little to worry about. But if you break it, saw into it, or sand over it, fibres are released. And you don't want to inhale those. That is why it is important to have asbestos removed by a licensed asbestos removal contractor, such as Credim. We work throughout Flanders, including in Dendermonde and its sub-municipalities such as Appels, Baasrode and Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde.
Older homes in Dendermonde often have to deal with three types of asbestos applications.
That white, plaster-like layer around heating pipes is present in many cellars. Often it is still wrapped in a white jute cloth. It is typical of houses built up until the 1980s. As long as you don't touch it, the risk is limited. But during a renovation or if you need to repair a leaking pipe, it can become damaged. You can read more about this application on our page about asbestos pipe insulation removal.
Vinyl sheeting and tiles from the period 1955-1985 can have an asbestos-containing backing. Underneath that, there is sometimes a black, brittle adhesive layer, the so-called cutback adhesive. That adhesive is the real risk, because it is not bonded and can easily release fibres. A licensed company will safely remove both the floor and the adhesive layer. For more information, see the page on asbestos vinyl floor removal.
Corrugated sheets on a shed or a conservatory, or asbestos slates on the facade: these are still common. If they are undamaged and screwed down, private individuals may remove them themselves up to 35 m², provided a demolition notification is made. Nevertheless, many people prefer to leave this to us, if only because the work is heavy and the material must be packaged correctly. You can read more about our approach on the page about asbestos roof removal.

Credim has been licensed as an asbestos removal contractor since 2021. We master the three legally required techniques: the simple handling, the glove bag and the hermetic zone. Which technique we use depends on the type of asbestos and its condition.
For a simple handling, for example for an intact asbestos sheet that can be unscrewed, we keep the risk of fibre release to a minimum. Damaged or friable materials are tackled in a hermetic zone with negative pressure. And we remove pipe insulation in a hermetic zone, sealed and under negative pressure.
All asbestos we remove is packed airtight in foil of at least 100 microns. We then transport it to a licensed processing facility. So you don't have to take it to the recycling centre yourself, where you can only dispose of 200 kg per year free of charge and friable asbestos is not accepted at all.
Before we start, we come to Dendermonde free of charge to assess the situation. We look at the type of asbestos, the quantity and the accessibility. After that, we make a clear plan and carry out the work safely. Once the work is done, you can continue with your renovation.
