As a certified asbestos removal company, we remove asbestos safely and legally, also in Beveren and the Waasland region.

If you have a house in Beveren built before 2001, there is a good chance that there is asbestos somewhere. It is often well hidden, such as the white, crumbly layer around the heating pipes in the cellar. Or under a vinyl floor covering in the utility room. It is not always noticeable. And as long as you don't touch it, the risk is limited. But during a renovation or a leak, dust is released. Then you want it to be removed properly.
In the homes we come across in Beveren, it usually involves three things.
That whitish-grey, crumbly layer around old heating pipes is not ordinary plaster. It is often asbestos insulation, usually wrapped in jute cloth. You will find it in cellars and utility rooms of houses built up to the 1980s. Leave that layer alone. Definitely do not scrape or sand it, as this releases the fibres. Do you recognise it? Then safe removal of asbestos pipe insulation is the next step.
An old vinyl floor covering or vinyl tiles in the kitchen or hallway: it may have an asbestos-containing underlay. The black bituminous adhesive underneath, which was commonly used between 1955 and 1985, poses the greatest risk. That layer is brittle. Anyone who pulls or scrapes it will spread fibres without realising it. We remove both the covering and the adhesive layer, following best practice. You can read more about this approach on the page about asbestos in vinyl floors.
Outside, we often see asbestos cement corrugated sheets on a canopy, garage or shed. These sheets are firmly bonded, but that does not mean you should unscrew them yourself. Dust is always released during removal, and the sheets break easily. In addition, you need to submit a demolition notification. Removing an asbestos roof is therefore best left to a licensed company.

For firmly bonded asbestos up to 35 m², you may do it yourself in Flanders, provided it is undamaged and screwed down. But there are many exceptions. Damaged material, glued floor coverings and friable asbestos such as pipe insulation? That must always be done by a licensed removal company. And even if you are allowed to do it yourself, it remains a job that involves a lot. You must wrap the asbestos airtight in foil of at least 100 microns, submit a demolition notification via the Environmental Counter and dispose of it correctly. We arrange everything, from the containment to the transport.
As a licensed asbestos removal company, we use the three legally required techniques. For a simple operation on firmly bonded sheets, we use containment and measure the fibre concentration. For pipe insulation, we work in a hermetic zone: the room is sealed and put under negative pressure. And for damaged or friable asbestos, we set up an airtight zone with negative pressure.
After the work, we dispose of the asbestos in airtight packaging. You do not have to go to the recycling centre yourself. We provide the necessary documents and transport to a licensed processing facility.
Do you need an asbestos certificate for the sale of your home? That certificate must be drawn up by a certified asbestos expert, not us. OVAM issues the certificate. But as soon as the certificate indicates where the asbestos is, we can remove it for you. This way, you can prepare your home for sale or renovation.
